With this investment, PreZero Portugal is consolidating its position in the industrial cluster by integrating TRATRIS, an established company in Tondela, Viseu district, ensuring the continuity of all employees.

Porto, July 2nd, 2026 - PreZero, one of the  leading partners for the circular economy in Europe and part of the companies of Schwarz Group, has successfully completed the full acquisition of TRATRIS, a reference company in industrial waste management and treatment located in Tondela. This investment aims to solidify PreZero's position in the national market, strengthening its operational capacity in the Central Region.

TRATRIS is specialized in the collection, transport, treatment, recovery, and sale of recovered recyclable materials. The acquisition by PreZero guarantees the full integration of its employees, ensuring the continued excellence of the services provided by the company, which annually recycles approximately 11,000 tons of recoverable materials from the industrial sector.

From a strategic perspective, PreZero Portugal strengthens its presence in the industrial waste segment through direct integration with its existing operations in Tondela. The physical proximity of both facilities within the same industrial zone creates opportunities to optimize both operations and transport routes.

By combining these infrastructures, PreZero benefits from TRATRIS’s installed capacity to create a robust regional ecosystem. This integration allows PreZero to further utilize industrial waste streams as a strategic resource depot , keeping valuable materials active within the economy and turning waste into measurable value.

For Tiago Borges, Managing Director of PreZero Portugal, this acquisition "is a key milestone in our growth strategy in Portugal. This investment reflects our confidence in the Central region's industrial cluster and the competence of the TRATRIS team, whom we now warmly welcome. By combining TRATRIS's regional presence with our know-how and the facilities PreZero already operates in Tondela, we create operational synergies. This strengthens our ability to deliver circular solutions at an industrial scale , leaving us increasingly prepared to support our partners' resource sovereignty and lead the transition to a circular value chain.”

With this acquisition, PreZero Portugal not only strengthens its presence within the competitive landscape but also gains a logistical advantage, offering more efficient, sustainable, and optimized solutions to national industries.
